Will Tucker brings a unique perspective to his role as CEO of Moore Company Realty, combining a strong financial foundation with a leadership style rooted in listening, collaboration and strategic growth. Having served as both the company’s CFO and now its CEO, Tucker understands the importance of balancing sound financial stewardship with the vision and calculated risk-taking required to move a business forward. Drawing on experience across construction, public accounting and real estate finance, he believes effective leadership begins with understanding the strengths of the people around you and creating opportunities for them to succeed. Tucker shares how his background in finance has shaped his approach to leadership, the lessons he’s carried from the CFO’s office to the CEO’s seat, and his vision for the future of Moore Company Realty.
“Our motto has always been simple: keep our promises, and growth will follow. I see my job as protecting that motto, not reinventing it. The generations before us built this company’s reputation one kept promise at a time, and our approach to growth going forward is the same: steady, sustainable and never at the expense of that trust.”
From your perspective, how would you describe the current commercial and residential real estate landscape in the River Region?
Commercial real estate here has continued to improve since I joined the company. We’re seeing more outside investors enter the market, which tells us the rest of the country is starting to recognize what we’ve always known about this region’s potential. Residentially, the market remains strong. We’ve sold raw land for new development, which is usually the clearest early signal of where growth is advancing.
Are there particular areas of the River Region experiencing significant growth or renewed investment? What’s driving that momentum?
The industrial parks are seeing a significant amount of growth due to the announcement of the 2027 opening of the Montgomery Intermodal Facility. We have seen increases in rental rates and transaction velocity has increased due to this facility and other investments.
What advice do you give companies or investors who are considering expanding or relocating to the River Region?
Realizing that the River Region has yet to be fully discovered. We have abundant land and natural resources. Maxwell AFB and the F-35’s call this wonderful area home. We have a strong industrial workforce used to create quality products with industry leading companies like Hyundai. State leadership/governance resides here, charting the course for the state. We are a natural commerce hub due to our superior location, and our transportation infrastructure is about to be improved once the Montgomery ICTF comes online in 2027. Soon we will have direct rail and truck connectivity to the Port of Mobile, sitting right at the crossroads of I-65 and I-85. Investors who move now have a real chance to get in on the ground floor before that full impact is priced in.
How important are partnerships between the business community, local government, and economic development organizations?
The business community cannot grow in a vacuum. It takes good leadership and strategic investments from local government and economic development organizations to create the conditions for private growth to follow.
Beyond buying and selling property, what role do you believe a real estate company plays in shaping the future of a community?
The real estate community can help future growth by providing the vision, guidance, energy, and experience required to succeed in our unique business climate. Revitalization of outdated properties and new project investments strengthens commerce throughout the whole region, not just one property at a time.
Looking ahead, where do you see the greatest opportunities for growth, not just for Moore Company Realty, but for Montgomery and the River Region as a whole?
The River Region has attracted a wave of public and private investment over the last few years, and I think we’re still early in seeing the full effect. Those investments should bring more jobs to the community, which strengthens the region overall and opens real commercial investment opportunities for future generations.
As a leader, what principles have guided your career and continue to shape your approach to business?
Two principles I live by: honesty and hard work. My parents always told me you won’t always be the smartest or most talented person in the room, but you can always control your effort and your integrity. That’s stuck with me through every role I’ve had.
When you look back on your career years from now, what impact do you hope you’ve made on Moore Company Realty, your team and the River Region?
I hope to help carry the Moore legacy forward another 100+ years by focusing on happy clients, happy employees, and increased stockholders value. If I have done this, I have done what I set out to do
For Fun:
- Recommended Read: The Outsiders by William Thorndike. It focuses on disciplined decision-making, thoughtful capital allocation and long-term value resonated with my background as a CFO.
- Dinner Date: It is kind of cliché considering that I am a graduate of the University of Alabama, but I would choose Paul “Bear” Bryant. My favorite quote of his that have applied to my life is, “If you believe in yourself and have dedication and pride, and never quit, you’ll be a winner. The price of victory is high, but so are the rewards.”
- Out of the Office: I enjoy spending time with my wife and daughter. My favorite part of the day is getting home and having them ask if I want to ride around the neighborhood on the golf cart.
