Meet the Mayor: Millbrook Mayor, Al Kelley

WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO IN 2024?

2024 is a pivotal year for the City of Millbrook due primarily to several large projects currently underway:

  • 17 Springs, the City’s flagship project, consists of 12 pickleball courts, 12 tennis courts, and four multi-purpose turf fields. Phase II is currently under construction and will include an 86,000 sq. ft. event center, six (6) diamond ballfields designed for softball and little league baseball use, and a 5,500-seat stadium with competitive track and field facilities.
  • The Marketplace at 17, a unique mix of dining, shopping, lodging, and recreational opportunities, is an eighteen (18)+/- acre tract publicly owned and zoned for commercial/business uses. It is expected that sites in the Marketplace will be available for purchase in early 2024 with several of the establishments set to open by the end of that year.
  • A new retail center is currently under construction in Millbrook on AL Hwy. 14 near Interstate 65, Exit 181, and is expected to be completed in the summer of 2024. This 14-acre multi-tenant development will be anchored by Publix and includes 6,000 sq. ft. of retail space and two out parcels.
  • Construction has begun on the City’s fifth hotel. TownePlace Suites by Marriott will open a 104-room hotel at I-65, Exit 179 at the end of 2024.

The community’s renaming occurred through Mary Wilkie Hall, the daughter of Bolling Hall, Sr., who was an 1818 early settler, Revolutionary War veteran, former U.S. Congressman, and a large owner and planter.
