WETUMPKA

Wetumpka’s tourism is booming, driven by HGTV’s Home Town Takeover and downtown revitalization. Its natural beauty, walkable streets and art scene draw visitors, while new shops, restaurants and attractions thrive. The Wetumpka Impact Crater Discovery and Visitors Center showcases the area’s unique geology, and upcoming highlights include the 2025 River Jam festival and Grove Station’s debut. The city’s sports complex also draws over 350,000 visitors and hosts more than 150 events annually, boosting local tourism.

MILLBROOK

Millbrook’s tourism growth is driven by the development of 17 Springs, a major multi-sport complex, and its collection of murals as part of the Alabama Mural Trail. The town has also embraced the arts with the Art Mill hosting a variety of shows and classes. Local businesses have seen increased foot traffic, reflecting the growing tourism presence. Upcoming projects include the 17 Springs Marketplace and continued development of downtown.

PRATTVILLE

Prattville has experienced a tourism boost, thanks in part to events hosted by the city and the Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce, as well as tours of the historic Mill. Signature events like Prattville CityFest and the Parade of Pumpkins have attracted large crowds, and upcoming projects like the renovation of Spillway Park and a new outdoor entertainment venue are set to further enhance the city’s appeal.

PIKE ROAD

Pike Road has seen growth in tourism, thanks to its scenic landscapes, strong community engagement and growing reputation for outdoor activities and water-based recreation. The Water House Gallery has become a cultural hub, drawing art enthusiasts to the area. The town’s annual events, like SummerFest and the Plein Air Paint Out, highlight its natural beauty and artistic flair. Pike Road is working on expanding cultural venues and interactive programs to make the town even more attractive to tourists.

With each of these towns actively investing in their tourism infrastructure, the River Region is becoming an increasingly vibrant destination for travelers seeking history, culture, outdoor adventure and unique local experiences.
