Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala. — Air University Innovation Accelerator (AUiX) will host its ribbon cutting ceremony and grand opening tour of The Eagle Institute at historic Kress on Dexter Avenue. The Eagle Institute is a dedicated Air University Innovation Center. This initiative is devoted to cultivating a culture of innovation, both within and beyond the United States Air Force.
Montgomery’s historic Kress Building preserves the past, shines on the progress of the city, and is now a beacon for collaboration between government, community, industry, and academia. From once being a thriving department store, then long-abandoned for more than 30 years, to being revitalized in 2017 – the rich history of the Kress Building lives on!
The ribbon cutting ceremony and grand opening of The Eagle Institute will take place on Oct. 18, 2:30 p.m. Tours of the facility will begin from 2:45 3:20 p.m. At 3:30 p.m., our keynote speaker, retired Air Force Lt. Gn. S. Clinton Hinote, will deliver a presentation in the Community Room (Room 111) in the Kress Building on the Dexter Avenue entrance side of the building.
“Research tells us a diverse range of perspectives and experiences leads to more innovative solutions, improved decision making and facilitates teamwork. The Eagle Institute will serve as connective tissue to bring people and ideas together from across Air University’s training, education, and leadership development enterprise.” – Lt. Gen. Andrea Tullos, Commander and President, Air University, Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama.
National defense is not just about the Department of Defense, it’s about all of us. At AUiX, we take the Department of Defense, the community, industry, and academia and combine them in one centralized place – The Eagle Institute. We are a collaborator, an education incubator, and an innovation hub. AUiX is where we take ideas and concepts “one step beyond.”
