AUM recognized among South’s top universities

Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) maintained its standing as one of the best regional universities in the South, according to U.S. News & World Report’s newly released 2025 Best Colleges survey.

AUM placed No. 32 overall among public regional universities in the South and 65th overall among its peers. AUM’s nursing program was also included on the website’s list of the Best Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing programs.

AUM earned a No. 29 ranking as one of the Best Colleges for Veterans in the South and placed No. 55 among Best Value Universities in the South. The university also earned placement among the top performers for “Social Mobility,” which measures success in supporting and graduating students who receive Pell Grants.

“We are pleased to once again earn recognition from U.S. News & World Report,” AUM Chancellor Carl A. Stockton said. “Our consistent presence in these rankings since 2016 indicates our faculty and staff are effectively inspiring, challenging and supporting AUM’s students.”

In the past year, AUM has earned recognition from Princeton Review as one of the best undergraduate universities in the South and also earned top honors as the best university in Alabama’s River Region for the seventh consecutive year in voting by Montgomery Advertiser readers.

Viqtory Media, publisher of “G.I. Jobs,” ranked AUM No. 3 nationally among small public universities on its 2024 “Military Friendly Schools” list – the seventh consecutive year that AUM has earned recognition in the longest-running review of colleges serving military veteran and military-affiliated students.
