For the seventh consecutive year, Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) has earned national recognition as a “Military Friendly School.”
AUM earned a No. 3 ranking in the “Small Public School” category and was recognized as a Military Spouse Friendly School, according to a newly released survey by Viqtory Media. Published in “G.I. Jobs” magazine, the Military Friendly Schools survey is the longest-running and most comprehensive review of college and university investments in serving veteran and military-affiliated students.
Viqtory Media surveys more than 1,600 schools nationally, evaluating such components as affordability, institutional commitment to the “8 Keys to Veterans’ Success,” flexibility of course delivery, and support services available to military-affiliated students.
AUM serves more than 800 military-affiliated students, including spouses and dependents.
“We appreciate the many active duty military personnel, veterans, spouses and children who have chosen Auburn University at Montgomery as their college home,” AUM Chancellor Carl A. Stockton said. “We take pride in our ability to serve the needs of a unique student population that has devoted itself to service of country. Rankings like these reflect the efforts of our faculty and staff to understand the needs of military-affiliated students and provide effective support in their pursuit of undergraduate and graduate degrees, as well as certifications.”
Among the resources AUM offers to military-affiliated students is the Veteran & Military Resource Center, a one-stop shop that helps students navigate unique needs pertaining to benefits and support services. AUM also features a Student Veterans of America chapter, a highly engaged campus organization that has been a repeat winner of the Chancellor’s Cup Homecoming Week competition.
While AUM offered more than $14 million in scholarship support to students in 2023, there are a number of opportunities that are specific to military-affiliated students. AUM offers the Military and Family Scholarship for current military personnel and their dependents. Scholarship recipients save 15 percent on undergraduate tuition and 35 percent on graduate school tuition.
The university also offers two-, three- and four-year Army ROTC Campus-Based Scholarships, the Guaranteed Reserve Forces Duty (GRFD) Scholarship and the Green to Gold Scholarship.
