MONTGOMERY, Ala. — The Blue Gray National Tennis Classic is serving up an afternoon of competition, community, and giving back with the inaugural of Backhands & Brews, a fun-filled tennis round robin benefiting the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic, a 501(c)(3).
Set for Thursday, September 3, 2026, at the Montgomery Country Club, Backhands & Brews welcomes players of all skill levels for an exciting evening of tennis, brews, music, and fun, all while supporting a meaningful cause. Player registration is $100 and all proceeds benefit Blue Gray.
The round robin tournament features divisions for 2.5 through 4.5+ players, giving participants the opportunity to enjoy competitive play in a relaxed, social atmosphere. Whether players are competing for bragging rights or simply enjoying time on the courts with friends, every registration directly supports the Blue Gray’s mission to create an unforgettable collegiate tennis experience that unites elite athletes, passionate fans, volunteers, and the Montgomery community through competition, hospitality, and a shared love of the game.

Founded in 1949 by Montgomery’s legendary “Mr. Tennis,” Jack Bushman, the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic is one of the nation’s premier collegiate tennis tournaments.
