City of Montgomery Unveils Exciting Veterans Day 2025 Lineup and Debuts Inspiring Hometown Heroes Banner Program 

MONTGOMERY, AL— The City of Montgomery, recognized by the Department of Veterans Affairs as a prestigious Regional Veterans Day Site, proudly announces its full slate of events dedicated to honoring the nation’s heroes. The commemoration will center around the traditional Veterans Day Parade, Resource Fair, and Ceremony on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, and will feature the debut of a meaningful new initiative and an insightful panel discussion. 

“Veterans Day in Montgomery is more than a single event; it is a profound declaration of gratitude from our entire community,” said Mayor Steven Reed. “As a Regional Veterans Day Site, we are committed to providing our veterans with a fitting tribute and essential resources. This year, we are especially excited to launch our ‘Hometown Heroes’ banner program, giving families a lasting way to honor their loved ones who have served.”

The City will be launching a new program designed to visually honor local veterans year-round. This initiative allows family and friends to purchase commemorative banners that will be proudly hung on poles throughout the downtown area. 

  • Honoring Details: Each banner will feature the veteran’s photo, name, rank, years served and branch of service.
  • Website Launch: The official website to purchase banners and view design and pricing details is scheduled to launch on Monday, November 10, 2025.  Details regarding pricing and the design process will be available at that time. 

Veterans Day Celebration: Parade, Resource Fair, and Ceremony 

The day of recognition begins with the annual parade, followed by a ceremony and an essential resource fair connecting veterans and their families with support services. 

  •  Veterans Day Parade: Kicking off at 10:00 AM, the parade will proceed down Dexter Avenue, featuring military units, high school bands, civic organizations and local veteran groups, all marching in tribute to those who served.
  • Veterans Day Resource Fair & Ceremony: Following the parade, at 11:00 AM, the community is invited to the Riverwalk Stadium for a Resource Fair, offering on-site connections to vital services in areas such as healthcare, education benefits, employment, and mental health support. Immediately after, we will hold the official ceremony.
