Wetumpka, AL – The City of Wetumpka is proud to announce the official opening of the Fall Line Overlook, a breathtaking new public space located at 305 Hill Street. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held this past Friday to mark the occasion, bringing together community members, local leaders, and project supporters in celebration.
More than just a scenic destination, the Fall Line Overlook is a place of gathering and reflection — a tribute to Wetumpka’s unique natural beauty and deep community roots. With panoramic views of the Coosa River and a symbolic representation of the State of Alabama beneath your feet, the space was designed to tell the story of this vibrant city.
Remarkably, the entire project was completed without the need for loans, thanks to generous contributions from the community. Through fundraising events, private donations, and grant support, $130,000 was raised to bring the vision to life.
Major funding partners include the City of Wetumpka, Alabama Power Foundation, Wind Creek Wetumpka, and Main Street Alabama. Their commitment, along with support from countless individuals, made the project possible.
The design and construction were led by Freddie Lynn and Amanda Fonte of Goodwyn Mills Cawood, along with the City of Wetumpka Public Works & Building Departments. Key contributors to the build include Contractor Patrick Perdue, Subcontractor Carlton Gray & Crew, Precision Floor Care/Precision Finishes & Coatings, Turner Fabrication, LLC, Ingram Memorial Company, and Walls Fence Company LLC.
The project would not have been possible without the leadership and vision of Mayor Jerry Willis, the Wetumpka City Council, and the Main Street Wetumpka Board of Directors: Rachel Turner, Clay McConnell, Scott Grier, Angie Carter, Sarah Sommerville, Nicky Godwin, April Hunt, Dennis Fain, and Andrew Stieb.
Special thanks also go to the dedicated Design Committee Volunteers: Freddie Lynn, Janice Whorton, Ashley Cousins, William Pierce, Jenny Stubbs, and Jeff Royal.
Each paver and bench purchased by members of the community has become a permanent part of the Overlook, etching personal contributions into the very foundation of this landmark.
The Fall Line Overlook stands as a powerful symbol of what’s possible when a community comes together — a true reflection of Wetumpka’s spirit.
