Faulkner University and Thompson Insurance partner to offer an internship and annual scholarship for Risk Management students

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Thompson Insurance, Inc. and Faulkner University signed two agreements on July 18, 2025, to launch new scholarship and internship opportunities for students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) through Faulkner’s Harris College of Business and The Stumbaugh School of Risk Management & Insurance.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed to establish the Thompson Insurance Internship Program, while a separate agreement created the Thompson Insurance Scholarship, which will provide scholarship funds annually to one qualified full-time RMI student.

The scholarship is available to traditional students entering their junior or senior year who are pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Risk Management & Insurance at Faulkner. The selected student must be enrolled full-time, maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5, and remain in good standing with the university. Candidates must also complete an application, submit letters of recommendation and participate in an interview process.

The Thompson Insurance Internship Program will offer rising juniors and seniors the opportunity to gain hands-on, professional experience through paid, year-round internships at Thompson Insurance’s Montgomery location. Internships typically begin in the summer, with full-time hours expected during the summer term and part-time hours during fall and spring semesters.

“We are incredibly grateful to Thompson Insurance for investing in our students and the future of the insurance industry,” said Faulkner University President Mitch Henry. “This partnership offers real-world opportunities that will enhance our students’ learning and career readiness in Risk Management and Insurance.”
