Main Street Montgomery is excited to announce it was recognized for its impactful work at the twelfth annual Awards of Excellence Banquet. The event was held on Thursday August 21st and was sponsored by Energy Southeast, UB Community Development, and the Walker Area Community Foundation. The Awards of Excellence committee selected Main Street Montgomery for the following four (4) awards;
- Main Street Hero 2025 – Kyser Property Management
- Excellence in Volunteer Development – Pints & Plans
- Excellence in Public Art – Conference of the Bird Mural and Window Installation commissioned by May Three-Sixty
- Reinvestment Award – Over $5 Million Reinvested in Downtown Montgomery
“Last Thursday’s event was a heartwarming celebration of the remarkable achievements of our local Main Street programs,” said Main Street Alabama Director Mary Helmer Wirth. “The inspiring success stories shared at the event truly highlighted the essence of community spirit and collaboration. It’s a testament to the effectiveness of Main Street’s Four-Point Approach in fostering economic development and preserving historic areas.”
“I’m incredibly proud of the work Main Street Montgomery has accomplished in such a short amount of time. These awards are a testament to our team’s dedication and vision. The conference itself was truly inspiring – it showcased countless ways we can build on the momentum we’ve already created. And the best part? We’re just getting started,” stated LaConya Murray, Interim Board Chair Main Street Montgomery.
“Main Street Montgomery has accomplished so much over the last eight months. These awards are a testament to the tireless work and collaborative spirit of our community-from our dedicated volunteers and business owners to our city leaders, organizations and partners,” said James Little, Main Street Montgomery Interim Director. “It’s a validation of our collective vision and commitment to making Downtown Montgomery a dynamic, welcoming place to live, work and visit.”
The local Main Street Montgomery program also selected a Main Street Hero to honor an individual, business, or organization that has made an outstanding contribution to their program. These Heroes were recognized at the Toast to Heroes Reception sponsored by Regions Bank prior to the banquet. For Montgomery, Kyser Property Management was recognized for years of
investment into multiple downtown revitalization projects, thriving downtown businesses, and overall positive impact for the Main Street Montgomery organization.
