Mayor Reed and Faulkner University unveil 60/50 tuition plan for MPD employees

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Montgomery Police Department (MPD) employees and their families will soon be eligible for reduced tuition at Faulkner University thanks to a new agreement signed today by Montgomery Mayor Steven L. Reed and Faulkner University President Mitch Henry.

Under this agreement, full-time MPD employees can receive a 60% tuition discount to attend eligible adult undergraduate and graduate programs at Faulkner, along with a 5% tuition discount on the Executive JD program. Furthermore, these employees can designate up to two family members to receive a 50% tuition discount.

Children of full-time MPD employees, including step-children, are also eligible for significant educational assistance. They can receive a 50% tuition discount on eligible adult undergraduate and graduate programs, a 5% discount on the Executive JD, or a scholarship worth a minimum of $10,000 per academic year (fall and spring) through Faulkner’s on-ground traditional program at its Montgomery campus. This scholarship ensures a minimum value of $40,000 over four years.

“We’re excited and grateful to partner with Faulkner University to help our officers and their families achieve their educational dreams,” said Montgomery Mayor Steven L. Reed. “This partnership shows our commitment to investing in those who protect our community and to making MPD a more attractive place to work and grow. This collaboration exemplifies how we can work together to support our officers and enhance our city.”
