MONTGOMERY, Ala. (03/06/2024)- In a bid to promote literacy and encourage reading, the Montgomery County Commission is proud to announce the installation of 14 new Little Free Libraries across the County!
The small weatherproof sharing boxes allow residents to take a book to read or leave a book for others to enjoy. This encourages reading and literacy, while also promoting a sense of community.
The new libraries are located at all three Montgomery County Probate/Revenue Annexes, the downtown Courthouse complex, and all County Parks & Recreation facilities. Locations allow for maximum accessibility and impact within the community.
“Reading and literacy are important for residents of all ages,” said Montgomery County Commission Chairman Doug Singleton. “By installing these new Little Free Libraries, we are promoting literacy and fostering and increased sense of community across Montgomery County!”
The new Little Free Libraries are filled with books for all ages donated by the Montgomery City/County Public Library System and the Little Free Library organization.
Montgomery County’s new libraries join the over 150,000 installed across the world! Funding comes from the Montgomery County Commission and the Little Free Library Impact Grant program.
