Montgomery Realtor earns top recognition for helping homebuyers with AHFA programs

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Alabama Housing Finance Authority has recognized Ja’Mese Hawkins of Garth Realty Group in Montgomery as its Realtor of the Year for 2024.

Hawkins led the statewide field of real estate professionals to help the most home buyers with AHFA programs in FY2024.

Realtors like Hawkins used AHFA programs to benefit 1,648 families from 57 counties last year, 96 percent of whom were first-time homebuyers. These programs offer modest-income households the competitive interest rates, down payment assistance loans, federal tax credits, and grants toward closing costs that enable them to afford a mortgage.

“Ja’Mese Hawkins truly makes a difference in her customers’ lives by using AHFA programs,” said Single-Family Administrator Carrie Hamaker. “Her dedication gives Alabamians that extra boost they need to afford homes of their own. These programs reach an important segment of our state’s workforce – teachers, law enforcement, health care workers, service professionals and others – who keep our communities running every day.”

Since 1980, AHFA programs have created homeownership opportunities for more than 90,000 Alabama households. For more information, visit https://www.ahfa.com/homebuyers/programs-available.
