A delegation from the Association of Defense Communities visited Montgomery on July 20th to bestow Great American Defense Community recognition on the region officially. The official designation came as a culmination of extensive visits with local stakeholders and officials. Elected officials and military leadership for the Montgomery River Region officially received their designation as a Great American Defense Community at a ceremony held at Montgomery Whitewater Conference Center.
The Montgomery River Region, home to Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Base, is one of just five communities in the United States named as a 2023 Great American Defense Community.
