Montgomery to host Veterans Day Celebration: Veterans in Focus

Montgomery, AL – Mayor Steven L. Reed, in partnership with the City of Montgomery and the Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs, proudly announces the 2024 Montgomery Veterans Day Celebration: Veterans in Focus. This year’s event is a heartfelt tribute to the courageous men and women who have served our nation, and will be held on Monday, November 11, 2024.

The Montgomery Military and Veterans Commission, alongside the City of Montgomery Cultural Affairs, have coordinated a series of impactful events to honor our veterans. The celebration will feature a grand parade, a veterans’ resource fair, and a commemorative ceremony, offering the community an opportunity to pay tribute to those who have defended our freedoms.

Grand Marshal: Commissioner Kent Davis

We are honored to announce Commissioner Kent Davis from the Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs as this year’s Grand Marshal. Commissioner Davis’ unwavering commitment to veterans exemplifies the values we celebrate on this special day.

Event Schedule:

  • Veterans Day Parade: Dexter Avenue (9:00 AM – 11:00 AM)
    • Enjoy a vibrant procession featuring marching bands, military units, veteran organizations, and community groups showcasing their patriotism and appreciation for our veterans.
  • Veterans Resource Fair: Riverwalk Stadium (11:30 AM – 2:30 PM)
    • Connect with organizations offering valuable resources and support services tailored to the needs of veterans and their families.
  • Commemorative Ceremony: Riverwalk Stadium (12:00 PM – 1:00 PM)
    • A solemn ceremony to express our deepest gratitude for the sacrifices made by our veterans.
