Owens Corning to establish shingle manufacturing facility in Prattville

Prattville, AL – Governor Kay Ivey announced that Owens Corning, a global leader in building materials, will invest in a new shingle manufacturing facility in Prattville, Alabama. This significant project is expected to create nearly 100 skilled manufacturing jobs and provide a substantial economic boost to Autauga County.

The new plant will feature a four-wide laminator capable of producing approximately 6 million squares of laminate shingles annually. Incorporating advanced automation and cutting-edge technology, the facility will enhance Owens Corning’s production capacity for high-performing roofing products.

The project is supported by a $4.9 million investment from the Growing Alabama program, which is accelerating improvements at the site in Prattville’s South Industrial Park. Additionally, AIDT, Alabama’s primary workforce development agency, will provide services valued at $885,000.

Construction is expected to begin in the near future, with production slated to commence in 2027.
