Leadership Montgomery held the 2024 Unity Award Breakfast on September 26, 2024. As the City of Montgomery came together in UNITY, we honored the Founders, Lanny Crane, George Goodwyn, Sr., J.M. (Mike) Jenkins, and Solomon Seay, Sr., fellowshipped, gained powerful words of wisdom from keynote speaker Larry D. Thornton, Sr., and awarded the 2024 Unity Award Recipient, Sheriff Derrick Cunningham. Through leadership, compassion, and vision, Sheriff Cunningham has worked to create a community where all individuals, regardless of background, feel safe, respected, and heard. He has actively engaged with local organizations, community leaders, and citizens to ensure that our neighborhoods are places of inclusion, fairness, and shared responsibility.

Leadership Montgomery offers a unique opportunity to unite leaders of diverse backgrounds with a common goal: to study and address critical issues impacting our community while fostering genuine relationships for the betterment of Montgomery, Alabama. Through two comprehensive programs, participants engage in a dynamic learning experience guided by established by community leaders. From immersive site tours to interactive panel interviews and hot topic discussions, the programs cover vital areas such as education, healthcare, the economy, and public service sectors, as well as the roles of local, state, and federal government. Emphasizing servant leadership, the programs experiences culminate in small group service projects aimed at directly impacting the community and addressing identified needs.
