Local architecture and engineering firm Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) is further expanding its architectural services through the strategic acquisition of BFrank Studio in Tampa, Florida.
Founded by Beverly Frank, AIA, in 2016, BFrank Studio is committed to service, collaboration and creativity through each project. The firm is well-respected throughout the Central Florida region with clients that include major universities, professional sports teams, municipalities and more. In addition to Frank, the studio’s team, consisting of Steve Carpenter, AIA, and Marissa Dwyer, AIA have joined GMC.
“This was a natural fit for us. We have a clear cultural alignment with GMC, recognizing a shared commitment to making communities better through the work we do,” said Frank. “With this notion as our foundation, we are confident that this new venture will benefit our clients and the people we serve tremendously.”
GMC is one of the Southeast’s most comprehensive multidisciplined architecture and engineering firms with over 700 employees. Named ENR Southeast’s 2024 Design Firm of the Year, its in-house services include architecture, interior design, civil engineering, environmental services, landscape architecture, planning, transportation engineering, coastal engineering, geotechnical engineering, mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering and disaster recovery.
GMC is no stranger to the Sunshine State, with five offices in Florida, including Lutz, Tampa, Orlando, Pensacola and Sarasota. The addition of BFrank Studio fortifies GMC’s Florida architecture team, while the BFrank team gains increased resources to offer existing clients to enhance their impact in the communities they serve.
“We are thrilled to welcome Beverly and the entire BFrank team to GMC,” said Marc Warren, GMC Executive Vice President of Architecture. “Their exceptional design talent and deep-rooted community relationships create a partnership that makes us both stronger. Bringing this team on board is a game changer, one that elevates our capabilities and expands what we can achieve together as we continue shaping vibrant, thriving communities across Florida.”
GMC has recently worked on several notable projects in the state, including the Sarasota County Planning and Development One Stop Building, the University of West Florida Sandy Sansing Sports Medicine Center and the Health First Palm Bay Hospital expansion, to name a few.
The BFrank team has worked on recent notable projects such as the University of South Florida (USF) Health Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment NeuBaC Research Laboratory, the University of Florida (UF) College of Medicine Office of Research Computational Research Lab Renovation as well as the Benchmark International Arena Family Lounge & RIPPA Rooftop Deck.
“BFrank Studio has long been a trusted creative partner of our arena,” said Joe Jackson, Vice President of Venue and Capital Projects for Vinik Sports Group. “We’ve consistently been impressed by the team’s vision, collaboration and commitment to elevating our spaces through thoughtful design. We are excited to see them take this next step with GMC and wish them every success in this exciting endeavor.”
The BFrank team will remain in their current office for the time being, with plans to combine with GMC’s Tampa offices in the near future.
