The 2025 Riverfront Rendezvous brings two days of free fun to downtown Montgomery

Montgomery, Alabama – The Alabama River Foundation, in partnership with the City of Montgomery and the Lions Club of Montgomery, is thrilled to present the 2025 Riverfront Rendezvous—a FREE, family-friendly celebration of the Alabama River, taking place July 8-9 at Riverfront Park in downtown Montgomery.

Perfect for kids ages 9-16, this two-day outdoor extravaganza blends environmental education with riverside fun in the heart of Alabama’s capital city. Open to the public, community groups, and summer camps, the Riverfront Rendezvous transforms the river into a hands-on learning playground.

What’s in Store?

  • Cruise the River aboard the Sip-n-Cycle Pedal Cruise, a floating classroom where kids explore interactive river maps, binocular scavenger hunts, and boating safety activities.
  • Cast a Line with Mentors from Montgomery Police Athletic League (MPALS) and learn fishing basics with friendly local guides.
  • Meet Live Animals with Legacy, Partners in Environmental Education, including turtles, snakes, and cool riverbank fossils!
  • Get Water-Wise with ALEAADEM, and PALS as they teach fire extinguisher use, rope tying, lifevest safety, pollution prevention, watershed and the power of litter-free waterways.
  • Watch the Splash as Montgomery Fire/Rescue lights up the river with their exciting water cannon demonstration.
  • Explore Nature on the Children’s Sensory Trail, guided by River Region TrailsAlabama Scenic River Trail, and the Lions Club.
  • Get Your Hands Dirty with NARCDC.org, planting seeds and learning about the power of pollinators.
  • Discover Aquatic Life with Outdoor Alabama’s real wildlife specimens and conservation exhibits.
  • Cool Down aboard the Harriott II Riverboat with snacks, shade, and a breezy riverfront view.
