Montgomery, Ala. — The Wellness Coalition Baby Café has been recognized with the 2025 Baby Café USA Access & Equity Award for its exceptional outreach and meaningful support of WIC families in the community.
The award was presented during the national Baby Café Chat on February 13, 2026, as part of the State of Baby Café presentation. This recognition honors Baby Café sites that reached WIC families at rates of 50 percent or higher in 2025.
In 2025, 94 percent of attendees visiting The Wellness Coalition Baby Café were WIC families, exceeding the national Baby Café average for the year and demonstrating a strong commitment to equitable breastfeeding support.
“This recognition reflects our commitment to meeting families where they are and ensuring breastfeeding support is accessible, welcoming, and equitable,” said Belkys Gomez, Program Coordinator at The Wellness Coalition. “We are honored to be recognized for work that aligns community, dignity, and health equity.”
Baby Café USA is a national nonprofit organization licensing and supporting Baby Cafés across the United States. Baby Cafés provide free, drop-in lactation support in welcoming community settings led by trained lactation professionals.
The Wellness Coalition Baby Café is hosted by The Wellness Coalition and provides free breastfeeding and lactation support to families throughout the River Region, with a focus on reducing barriers to care and supporting families most impacted by health inequities.
