The City of Wetumpka is excited to announce that TJ Maxx, one of the nation’s leading off-price retailers, is coming to Toulouse Village Shopping Center, located at 5266 U.S. Highway 231, Wetumpka, Alabama.
Known for offering high-quality, brand-name fashion, home décor, beauty, and more at affordable prices, TJ Maxx will bring a new level of shopping convenience to residents and visitors. This highly anticipated addition represents another milestone in Wetumpka’s continued growth and development.
“We are thrilled to welcome TJ Maxx to Wetumpka,” said Mayor Jerry Willis. “This is an exciting addition to Toulouse Village and a great benefit for our residents. Retail growth like this strengthens our local economy, creates jobs, and enhances the shopping experience in our city.”
Lynn Weldon, Economic Development Director for the City of Wetumpka, added, “This is something our community has been asking for. TJ Maxx is a big box retailer that complements our local boutiques and specialty shops. Their presence helps keep shopping dollars right here in Wetumpka and Elmore County.
The City of Wetumpka also emphasized that the addition of TJ Maxx will support, not compete with, small businesses downtown. Local consumers have long been leaving Wetumpka to shop at TJ Maxx in other cities and counties. With this new store, residents and visitors will be able to enjoy more complete day trips — shopping downtown boutiques, dining locally, and visiting attractions, while also having access to national retailers. This combination keeps people and their dollars in Wetumpka.
TJ Maxx acquired the space through an agreement with the property owner and leasing company after the previous tenant’s lease had expired.
Preparations are underway and construction on the store will be happening soon. Further details about the opening will be announced as they become available.
