Tyson Foods partners with the Montgomery Area Food Bank to donate 80,000 lbs of chicken

MONTGOMERY, AL (May 5, 2023) – Tyson Foods is donating 80,000 pounds of frozen chicken to those facing food insecurity in the Montgomery, Alabama community. The amount is equivalent to 320,000 servings of protein. Tyson is committed to giving back to local communities and our neighbors in need. The event takes place Saturday, May 13, 2023, from 8-11 AM CT at the Union Street Trainshed (210 Water St, Montgomery, AL 36104), and coincides with the Black College World Series (BCWS) Presented by Tyson Foods.

The donations will be distributed through two drive-thru lines at the Union Station Train Shed. Residents are asked to remain in their vehicles while volunteers place the donation inside.

The BCWS returns to Riverwalk Stadium, in Montgomery, Alabama, May 10-13, 2023, where eight Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) will compete for the third BCWS championship. A schedule of games and events can be found on the BCWS site.

About Montgomery Area Food Bank (MAFB)

The Montgomery Area Food Bank (MAFB) was established in 1986. The organization became a certified affiliate of Feeding America in 1989 and works with our state association, Feeding Alabama. The mission of MAFB is to source, acquire, and distribute nutritious food to those experiencing hunger and food insecurity throughout our region so that families, seniors, and children can thrive.

Last year alone, MAFB distributed 26 million pounds of food, or 22 million meals, to the 35 counties served and is on track to distribute even more in the coming years. MAFB provides food to our service area by working with over 500 partner agencies that serve people through a variety of programs.
