MONTGOMERY, Ala., April 16, 2025 – Caddell Construction has announced a new c-suite position and three key promotions among senior leadership. Chas Torrence has been hired for the newly created role of chief administrative officer for the company. Zach Moore and Jason Carnes have been promoted to senior vice president, and Ike Keene has been promoted to vice president, all in the Commercial division.
According to President and Chief Executive Officer Mac Caddell, the announcement is reflective of the company’s steady growth and ongoing success. “Our greatest asset has always been and will always be our people,” he said. “They do business The Caddell Way and earn the repeat business and collective success we have as our aim every day. Bringing Chas in to help our support teams and promoting key leaders like Zach, Jason and Ike—that’s all part of goal number one in our strategic plan. Chas Torrence has been hired as Chief Administrative Officer.
Torrence is a seasoned construction professional with nearly 25 years of experience in multiple aspects of the industry. After earning a B.S. in Construction Management from Clemson University, he began his career in estimating before assuming project leadership roles with such companies as Brasfield & Gorrie, Cox Schepp Construction and The Strauss Company. He spent much of the last decade in executive leadership roles with EMJ Construction before joining Caddell in the new position of chief administrative officer.
In this new role, Torrence will oversee the day-to-day support operations of Caddell Construction and ensure that departments have what is needed to align effectively in support of the company’s three business units/divisions. He reports directly to the CEO and works closely with other senior leaders to align operational strategies with overall business objectives, while maintaining a strong focus on continuous improvement and enhancing company culture.
Ricky Byrd, president of Caddell’s Commercial division, announced the key promotions among senior leadership in the business unit, noting meaningful contributions to the division’s significant growth. “Zach has been here since day one. He not only understood the vision; he owned it and made it happen. And the same is true for Jason. He helped with the successful launch of the Jacksonville office, which has become a key contributor to our overall growth and future planning. Ike joined Jason in maximizing our previous mission critical experience to propel us into the data center market, where we see incredible potential ahead as we continue to earn repeat business,” he said.
Zach Moore has been promoted to Senior Vice President – Commercial.
Moore joined Caddell eight years ago as a senior project manager and has held the roles of director of operations and vice president before being promoted to senior vice president. He has played a key role in expanding the Commercial business unit and has been directly responsible for over $1 billion of profitable work. He will continue to lead operations for his specific markets and clients in Caddell’s ongoing efforts to earn repeat business. Moore earned a B.S. in Construction Management from the University of North Florida and is very active in his local community in northwest Arkansas.
Jason Carnes has been promoted to Senior Vice President – Commercial.
Carnes was hired as director of operations and charged with launching Caddell’s Jacksonville office in 2020, where he has led the way to tremendous growth. Carnes began his career as an intern with Elkins Constructors and spent much of his career working his way up through the ranks to senior project manager before joining Urban Partners Construction as their commercial division manager. After joining Caddell, he led the company’s entrance into the data center market and was promoted to vice president in 2023. Carnes holds a B.S. in Construction Management from the University of North Florida and has been successful in securing work from some of the world’s largest and most elite clients.
Ike Keene has been promoted to Vice President – Commercial.
Keene joined Caddell in 2021 as a construction executive and has been instrumental in the growth and success of the company’s data center market. His background includes data centers, large commercial and retail projects, as well as large-scale renovations and tenant fit-outs. He has held management positions in preconstruction, onsite project delivery and supervisory roles in all aspects of construction operations. Keene earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the Mississippi State University and spent much of his early career with Elkins Construction. He was instrumental in establishing Caddell’s Jacksonville office four years ago and is highly engaged in his local community there.
