The Heart of Alabama Food Bank works tirelessly to source, acquire and distribute nutritious food to those experiencing hunger and food insecurity throughout the region, allowing families, seniors and children to thrive.
WE ARE EXCITED BY/ABOUT launching our new Food as Medicine program. We realize that proper nutrition is essential for maintaining optimal health and preventing various diseases. Through our partnerships with the Montgomery Cancer Center- Baptist Health, Jackson Hospital, Alabama Kidney Foundation, Alabama Department of Public Health, Tuskegee VA Medical Center and Dr. Joseph Henry Ward Veteran Food Pantry, we will be able to address the impact of food insecurity on overall health.
WE’VE LEARNED THE HARD WAY THAT “lessening the line” takes all of us working together to ensure that everyone in a household has access to quality nutritious food.
WE ARE PROUD OF how creative and visionary our entire team is when it comes to serving our neighbors in need.
VOLUNTEERS WORK WITH US BECAUSE they believe in our mission and know that our team members are doing all they can to further make a difference, regardless of their role. Oftentimes, those who support us may never personally meet someone that was assisted, but they know it is making an impact in their lives.
WE VALUE authentic relationships with our donors, members of the community, our volunteers and team members. We can’t do what we do without these relationships.
OUR SECRET SAUCE IS our people. They genuinely care about every facet of what we do, each and every day because they know that food insecurity is a 24/7/365 issue, and they want to make a difference, too.
CURRENTLY, WE ARE WORKING ON ensuring there is equitable distribution of food across the counties in our service area. You will see a mobile food pantry, in partnership with local businesses and organizations, monthly across the 12 counties in our direct service area. Stay tuned for specific locations.
WE HOPE WOMEN WILL realize that what they do, day in and day out, truly matters. We are role models not only for our families, but our communities and those we serve.
WE MAKE AN IMPACT BY having compassion and a desire to find more ways to serve those who are facing food insecurity. We are truly fighting hunger AND feeding hope every day.
