The women of the Montgomery County Historical Society, both staff and Board of Directors, play a vital role in preserving and sharing the stories that shape our community. Dedicated to collecting, safeguarding and educating the public about Montgomery County’s rich history, they ensure that the past continues to inspire and inform generations to come.
THE RESOURCES THAT KEEP US MOVING FORWARD ARE: Donations of artifacts that support and enhance our collection, and the generous financial contributions that allow us to continue the work of preserving and educating.
WE CELEBRATE OUR WINS WHEN: We have visitors to the Figh-Pickett House who are inspired to learn more about our collection and Montgomery County history.
OUR CLIENTS TELL US THEY APPRECIATE: The programs and events that allow them to learn and experience history firsthand.
WE KNOW WE MAKE A DIFFERENCE WHEN: People tell us that our collection reminded them of a memory or helped them make a connection.
ONE THING PEOPLE ARE ALWAYS SURPRISED TO LEARN ABOUT US IS: We have a complete collection of Montgomery City Directories dating back to 1880, useful for historical research of people, places and locations.
THE VALUES THAT GUIDE EVERYTHING WE DO ARE: People and place first.
THIS YEAR, WE’RE EXCITED ABOUT: The three feature exhibits:
• Zelda’s Muses: The Women of Montgomery (February 10 through April 30), in partnership with The Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald Museum.
• Doris Alexander Thompson (June 2 through September 3), in partnership with Art Dixie Colony Foundation.
• Military: Aviation/Uniforms/World War I and II (October 6 through December 23), in collaboration with Landmarks Foundation of Montgomery.
WE HOPE WOMEN IN BUSINESS WILL CONTINUE TO: Serve the community with integrity, passion and a sense of purpose.Â
