When did you start your current job?
I have been a family physician with the Jackson Clinic since September 2017.
What is your main role at your company?
My main role as a family physician is to manage acute and chronic conditions, while also emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention. As a family physician, I am afforded the opportunity to serve as the \”gatekeeper\” of healthcare for many patients.
What is your number one career accomplishment or highlight?
After practicing medicine for over five years, my most significant career accomplishment is simple-It\’s simply making an impactful difference and improving the quality of life of my patients. As a physician, that is what I am most proud of.
How are you involved in your community?
Community service and involvement have always been one of my passions. I strive to maintain a positive presence in the community that reflects service, philanthropy and leadership. I currently serve as the Community Service Chairperson for the Capital City Medical Society, an organization committed to improving the quality of health among minorities and disadvantaged people.
For the past two consecutive years, I have hosted sessions on the topic \”Applying to Medical School 101\” at the U.N.I.T.E. HBCU Leadership Conference, an initiative to empower minority students across the nation. In December of 2022, I served as Grand Marshal for the Christmas Parade in Hayneville, Alabama. Last but certainly not least, I am a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc, an organization with a mission to be of \”Service to all Mankind.\”
What is your key to success?
My key to success is trusting, acknowledging, and allowing God to direct my path. I knew that I wanted to become a physician as early as first grade, so I know that it is not by chance but God\’s will that I am fulfilling that dream. The price of success is determination, hard work and dedication so each day is a new opportunity for me to apply the best of myself!
