What is your main role at your company?

For over 100 homes a year, Carter oversees the development of all construction and manages its organization, scheduling, and implementation from lot development to closing. Carter monitors productivity, coordinates trade partners, ensures compliance with building and safety codes, trains employees and coordinates all community outreach projects.

What is your number one career accomplishment or highlight?

Goodwyn Building fills a gap in our market. We build hundreds of homes in the Greater Montgomery area that are affordable to buy and own. By doing so, we provide an opportunity to gain homeownership and develop generational wealth while also developing communities that can improve their area and provide employment opportunities for hundreds of people.

How are you involved in your community?

I am a member of Leadership Montgomery Torchbearers Class 13. I organized several volunteer construction projects at Common Ground, Valiant Cross, Brantwood Children’s Home and King’s Canvas. I also put on a fundraising concert for Common Ground Montgomery – “The Common Ground Shakedown”.

What is your key to success?

As a 28-year-old home builder, there is always something new to learn and experience. I find my greatest successes occur when I surround myself with and rely on my coworkers who many times know more than I do. The path to achieving my goals is always more efficient when I actively seek to collaborate with my co-workers who can offer guidance, advice and often a new perspective.

I also constantly work to empower my co-workers to have more autonomy, leadership and development in their roles, and therefore, be able to contribute to their full potential as a teammate. At Goodwyn Building, we constantly work to make sure everyone is treated with respect and integrity and feel as if they were family.
