What is your main role at your company?

Troy CE&O offers customized training to organizations on a variety of subjects. I assist with the development of content and deliver professional development sessions to private and public sector organizations. With over 16 years of experience in Higher Education Administration, helping people recognize and meet their potential has always been a driving force for me. As a member of Troy\’s CE&O team, I focus on the development of leaders through the enhancement of their communication skills and a focus on the importance of engagement, customer service, and teamwork. My goal is to assist organizations in maximizing the professional capabilities of their employees.

What is your number one career accomplishment or highlight?

At the age of 33, I was appointed as a college Athletics Director. At the time, I was the only female AD within our conference and 1 of only 41 women in the nation who held that position in Division 2 (+300 institutions). In that role, I had the opportunity to lead my alma mater through a transition from NAIA to NCAA D2. Requirements of that transition involved vigorous strategic planning, multiple compliance audits by the NCAA and the development of plans to enhance Diversity and Inclusion, among meeting other benchmarks.

How are you involved in your community?

I am a big believer that if you have the means to help, you should. Not only should you, but it’s your responsibility. The 2 main ways to do this are through money and time. I’m a mom and have a full-time job so like most parents, opportunities to volunteer through time aren’t frequent. But that’s not an excuse to do nothing. I do contribute to a handful of local charitable organizations that are close to my heart. I support those financially and when schedules align, I support them with my time. I serve as a board member for the Cancer Wellness Foundation of Central Alabama. As a cancer survivor, I am very passionate about their mission of helping patients and their families through research, education and resources for basic needs like transportation and medication. It’s humbling to play a small part in such an impactful organization in the River Region.

What is your key to success?

I use 3 quotes to keep me focused when it comes to success:

  • “Success isn’t owned it’s rented. And the rent is due every day.” (Rory Vaden)
  • “Be stubborn about your goals, but flexible about your methods.” (William A. Donohue)
  • “The life we receive is not short but we make it so; we are not ill provided but use what we have wastefully.” (Seneca)
