Jennifer Burr, owner of Spotless, LLC, founded the cleaning company to be her own boss and provide employment opportunities for single mothers or women without degrees.
HOW DID SPOTLESS START?
I started Spotless in 2009 from scratch with no funds after being laid off from my corporate job due to the recession. I ran the business out of my laundry room for the first year and a half, even after I\’d hired my first few employees. That was a nightmare, so I found office space as soon as I could! Spotless has been headquartered in Millbrook since the very beginning. We provide housecleaning, janitorial and carpet cleaning.
WHAT’S YOUR SECRET TO SUCCESS?
Customer care. Housecleaning services are a luxury, and our clients have lots of options. I try to provide the most tailored experience possible for my clients and do everything in my power to keep them happy.
HOW IS BUSINESS GOING?
Over the years, my day-to-day role has changed quite a bit. The Spotless team does a fabulous job of stepping in when my hands are full with my four kids. We have a great team of ladies who care greatly about our clients. When Covid hit, I lost 80% of my business within three weeks. Thankfully, this only lasted a month or two, and Spotless was able to pull through stronger than ever.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE THE MOST?
First, I love the way Spotless can help families, whether it\’s an elderly couple who physically can\’t clean their home anymore or a working mom. Secondly, I love the career opportunities I\’m able to provide to women in the community. Over the years, most of my employees have been young, single moms. The thing I love most is that I almost never miss out on experiences with my children.
