MONTGOMERY—Hampstead, a 416-acre master-planned residential and mixed-use development, proudly announces the completion and opening of the state-of-the-art Montessori School at Hampstead campus. Located at 8321 Conduit Street in the heart of Hampstead’s walkable community, the campus represents the realization of a long-term vision to offer an unmatched educational experience for the Montgomery community.
The newly completed $2.8 million campus includes four one-story brick buildings arranged in a traditional quad-style configuration centered around an internal courtyard and playground. Designed by architect William J. Peek and developed by Hampstead Building Company, the campus was funded through a partnership with Servis1st Bank. The school’s new location increases enrollment capacity by more than 50% and staffing by 40%, while enhancing Montessori learning through dedicated classrooms, outdoor learning areas, and a direct connection to Hampstead Farm.
“This truly is the culmination of a lifelong dream to have a space that will provide a premier educational experience for the children in Central Alabama,” said Melanie Morrison, head of school at Montessori School at Hampstead. “Thanks to our partners and the Hampstead community, we’ve been able to make this dream a reality.”
Montessori School at Hampstead serves children ages 12 months to six years, with limited enrollment available for students three to six years old. Each classroom features window seating for individual learning, food preparation areas for hands-on lessons, and access to fresh produce grown steps away at Hampstead Farm.
“This campus is a deeply personal achievement and a defining moment in Hampstead’s ongoing evolution,” said Anna Lowder, town founder of Hampstead and principal of Hampstead Building Company. “It embodies the walkable, integrated community we’ve been building for nearly two decades, where children can walk from their front doors to a school surrounded by nature, neighbors, and opportunity. This school represents everything Hampstead was designed to support.”
The Montessori School at Hampstead was founded in 2011 and has operated in Hampstead’s Town Center for over a decade. With the completion of its expanded campus, the school is now located near Hampstead Farm, soccer fields, tennis and pickleball courts, and just a one-minute walk from homes. It is also a short distance from retail, dining, fitness, wellness, and outdoor amenities.
A formal ribbon-cutting and public open house will be held in August during the school’s annual Back to School Social.
The Montessori School at Hampstead is affiliated with the American Montessori Society and will continue to honor the Hampstead resident discount for new homeowners looking to enroll their children.
