Executive Vice President for the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association
Pull Quote: “It is very rewarding when we get a chance to help the members of the association, even in a small way, because you know you are helping good people that care a lot about what they do, feeding the world beef!”
Top Tip: Make sure you find something you love and never let someone outwork you. As a young professional this will serve you well and set you up for success as you grow.
Erin Beasley serves as the Executive Vice President of the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association (ACA), where she oversees all operations and leads the organization’s efforts in governmental affairs at both the state and federal levels. A proud Auburn University alumna, Beasley holds a B.S. in Animal Science and an M.S. in Meat Science. Her career in the cattle industry began when she stepped into a role focused on consumer education about beef—a perfect fit that sparked a lasting passion for advocating on behalf of Alabama’s cattle producers. Since then, she has steadily grown within the association, bringing deep industry knowledge, leadership and a strong commitment to promoting and protecting the interests of Alabama’s cattle community.
On the Job
I am the executive vice president for the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association. I manage all operations of the association and work in governmental affairs on state and federal issues.
Helping Hand
I am involved in a few organizations through my job, such as the Alabama Future Farmers of America (FFA) Foundation, which allows me to interact heavily in FFA, which is a program I am huge advocate for. I also participate in the Auburn Agricultural Alumni Club which works to raise money for scholarships for the College of Agriculture. In the past, I’ve also been a mentor in the Auburn University Agricultural Mentoring program which has been very rewarding. I love being around sharp young people who are passionate about agriculture.
Personal Best
In today’s workplace, you hear a lot about company culture. It has always been a goal of mine to have an office that people genuinely enjoy coming to and working in. I think we have accomplished that most days and it makes me proud. As I always tell our team, we spend more time with our work family than we do with our real families, so we better like coming here and being together. A lot of credit goes to our team because without them, we wouldn’t have an enjoyable workplace environment.
Influential Figures
Growing up, my dad really set the path for me about what it means to work hard and be a good decision maker. He is a small business owner, so I witnessed firsthand how he grew his business. From a young age, he instilled the importance of loving what you do and bringing a level of commitment that is unmatched. My predecessor, Dr. Billy Powell, served as the EVP for the Cattlemen’s for over 30 years. I got to work for him for seven years and learned so much about association work and relationships. He provided me with a lot of opportunities to build my network and grow in my career. I will forever be grateful for that.
Future-Focused
I will answer this one twofold. I will start with a goal for the association which is to identify and help develop strong, thoughtful leaders for the association. These guys are the ones that will keep us moving in the right direction. So far, we have been successful in doing this, but that is something that needs to be maintained for years to come. Part two of this answer is related to my team. I hope I can continue to recognize the needs we have and be able to go out and recruit high level talent to accomplish our goals for the years to come. It’s very rewarding when people take time to compliment your team and the work they do.
Fulfilled
People are the best part of association work. The members of the ACA are some of the best folks you will find, and they are easy to advocate for. It is very rewarding when we get a chance to help them, even in a small way because you know you are helping good people that care a lot about what they do, feeding the world beef!
Off the Clock
We live on our farm in Macon County and have a commercial cow calf operation and produce hay. Most weekends you will find us somewhere around the farm or at a cattle sale/event. My husband and I have a son (9) and a daughter (5) who keep us busy between softball, basketball and other activities they decide to get involved in. Our life is pretty crazy most weeks, but that is our season right now, so I am trying to enjoy it.
