Women to Watch: Ghandi Daniels

“My ultimate goal is to help others achieve their own successes, both personally and professionally. I am driven by a deep sense of purpose to be the best version of myself and to encourage others to do the same.”

Ghandi Daniels serves as the executive director of The Wellness Coalition (TWC), a nonprofit organization helping people with little or no health insurance connect with much-needed resources in the River Region counties of Alabama. As executive director, Daniels oversees the organization’s day-to-day operations and ensures programs and services are making an impact where people need them most.

Helping Hand

I am involved in Mobile Heights Baptist Church community outreach. In addition, I am the president of the Mid-Alabama Coalition for the Homeless (MACH) board of directors and have been a member of the Alpha Rho Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. for 25 years. I have served on various committees, most notably with the youth auxiliaries (the Pearlette), and the Amicette and Archonette Club. I also serve on the Storks Nest Committee, an incentive-based, prenatal health promotion program for low-income pregnant women that encourages women to make and keep prenatal care appointments and to participate in prenatal education classes. I am on the Alpha Rho Zeta Service Foundation board of directors and was nominated in March 2024 to become the 25th President of Alpha Rho Zeta Chapter.

Point of Pride

I have had a fulfilling adult life with many accomplishments. However, I am most proud of my children. I gave them the tools to become successful adults. I am now excited to see all of their future achievements. I am also proud of being the executive director of TWC. I never dreamed of holding this position, but I know this experience and my work is part of something bigger. My faith has never wavered, and I am excited to see where God will take us next.

Influential Figures

I would say my father, grandmother and sister are my biggest supporters. They have always provided words of encouragement to help me excel in whatever I aim to achieve, both personally and professionally. I also have to credit my professional mentor, Cynthia Bisbee, PhD. She is one of the previous executive directors of TWC and continues to believe in the organization’s mission and vision.

Fulfilled

Seeing the difference my work can make in someone’s life is truly humbling and motivates me to continue striving to make a difference. Whether it’s through providing support and resources or simply lending a listening ear, I am grateful for the opportunity to be of service to others.

Off the Clock

I am a native of Opelika, AL and someday wish to retire there. I enjoy a quiet life outside of work, especially when spending time with my husband Edward and my two children Kendall (19) and Morgan Anne (17). I also like to dance, travel and read.
